Planning a Splendid Holiday to Rome

When traveling to Rome, first time tourists face a lot of challenges. The most common of these is that they find it incredibly hard to manage the finances in this expensive city. Because of lack of research and inexperience, many travelers end up making the same mistakes over and over again.

Rome is one of the best destinations to travel to. There are plenty of attractions and the history and architecture are truly wonderful. This is the reason why million of travelers flock to Rome every year to have a heavenly vacation.

If you’re planning to be one of them, here’s a guide to plan your memorable trip to Rome.

1. Choose the Timings Wisely

If you think planning a trip is great when your kid is off from school, think again. That is because every other kid is likely to be off at that time too, meaning the hotels are flooded with tourists.

This is the issue with peak time traveling. You can hardly find any option to stay within your budget. Everything is likely to be pricey in Rome during the peak seasons. Even if you can manage that, the never ending crowds and endless waiting hours at the Colosseum is surely going to put you off from traveling! Opting for shoulder seasons for traveling is a much better option if that is your first time to Rome.

2. Plan Your Meals

While preparing your travel itinerary, tourists mostly focus on the places they’ll be visiting when they’re out and about. Surely that is very important. However, you’re likely to be hungry every now and then. This is why you also must plan your meals beforehand.

Since Rome is likely to be expensive all year round, it’s a must that you watch out for restaurants that might advertise to serve you authentic Italian food but are only travel scams in reality. This isn’t something unusual to experience when in Rome. Because there are so many tourists everywhere, a lot of restaurants end up getting away with serving you terrible food and gut-wrenching bills.

If you wish to stay away from this misery, ensure that you’ve searched well for all the eating out places. Try not relying too much on guide books and TripAdvisor for this.

3. Know the Language

English is most often understood everywhere in the world these days. But you must never make the mistake of assuming that the person you’re about to approach is going to be comfortable in communicating with you in English.

Romans are proud of what they are. Many of them would consider it an offence if you question them something in English. There are plenty of phrase books that help you to ask the common questions in the local language. Before you travel, ensure you’ve studied it once. This can be the perfect companion while you travel in Rome.

4. Tipping

Tipping in Italy is not required. This might be difficult to understand for first time travelers, but that is generally what the culture is. Many of the eateries would include the service charge in the bill meaning you’re not required to pay anything above that. If you find some exceptional service, you may tip as you desire.
